Practical guides for submitting listings, suggesting updates, and managing requests.

Categories vs Tags

Categories = what the business is

Categories group listings by core business type, e.g. Food & Drink, Retail, Trades, Health & Wellbeing. A business can be in multiple categories if needed.

Tags = key features

Tags describe extra useful details, e.g. dog friendly, vegan options, step-free access, independent business. Tags help users decide faster.

When submitting or amending a listing, pick the best-fit categories first, then add relevant tags that are genuinely accurate.

How To Find Businesses Quickly

  • Use the Directory page and filter by category, business name and Pudsey Pounds support.
  • Use the Map page for location-based browsing and parent-category filters.
  • Use Offers for current promotions and Events for upcoming dates.
  • Open a business profile to view contact details, opening hours, tags, events and offers in one place.

Guide: Submit a Business

  1. Open the submission page and complete all required fields.
  2. Add a clear description, accurate address, and the most relevant categories and tags.
  3. Upload logo/cover images if available (optional, but recommended).
  4. If this is your business and you want to manage it, tick This is my business, I’d like to manage it and enter a verification email address.
  5. Choose where we can verify that email (for example: website, Facebook, or other public source).
  6. Confirm Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, then submit.

If you request ownership during submission

  • We send a verification email first. You must confirm it before review can continue.
  • After your listing is approved, the ownership claim is reviewed by moderation.
  • If approved, we link the business to your account and send login/access instructions.

Tip: accurate details, relevant categories, and a verifiable email usually speed up moderation.

How Local Legends Works

Local Legends is generated using recent listing activity, not hand-picked manually for individual businesses.

  • Each month, the system reviews recent approved updates, offers and events, plus overall listing quality.
  • Up to 15 businesses can receive the Local Legend badge in a month.
  • If there are not enough activity-based candidates, remaining slots may be filled from approved category pools.
  • Badges are time-based and reset monthly, so selections can change over time.
